MY ROLE // Product Design Manager
Product design, Research, product strategy, stakeholder alignment, information architecture, visual design, copywriting, quality assurance, copywriting.

A product moves at the speed of its system. RetailMeNot's design system was the connective tissue holding together a complex, multi-surface product — I helped build and scale it into a global foundation that gave teams the consistency and flexibility to move faster without sacrificing quality. From components to documentation, the work was about creating shared language that reduced friction, accelerated production, and made great design the default.

Three incomplete legacy systems and widespread component inconsistency had created inefficiency, human error, and a lack of shared foundation. Without a unified system, teams were duplicating work, handoffs were breaking down, and scaling quality design was nearly impossible.

Solution

A phased, three-quarter build of NED (No Expiration Date) — a fully tokenized, AI-ready design system built on React and Tailwind. The system unified product and marketing under a single source of truth, with robust documentation, a dramatically improved designer-developer handoff, and company-wide adoption driven through education, leadership alignment, and ongoing NED-Talks sessions. NED is already powering the browser extension and setting the foundation for faster, more confident product development across web and app.

Challenge

Securing executive buy-in for roadmap investment, making the strategic call to start fresh rather than patch what existed, and driving adoption across a cross-functional organization — all with a lean team of three designers.

Summary

RetailMeNot's first truly global design system — built from scratch after years of fragmented practices, and now the backbone powering product and marketing teams across the entire company.
