Problem
MY ROLE // Lead Product Designer iOS and Android
Product design, user research, product strategy, stakeholder alignment, information architecture, user flows, visual design, interaction design, copywriting, quality assurance, design guidelines.
Cash back delays of up to 45 days were undermining user trust and limiting retention. The existing experience wasn't driving repeat usage or communicating enough value to keep users engaged between purchases.

Solution
A focused MLP that rethought gift cards as an instant reward mechanism — unlocking immediate cash back while integrating seamlessly into existing app flows. I led end-to-end design across iOS and Android, extending the design system to support new components without disrupting consistency. Validated through deep UX research and iterative testing, the program launched successfully and quickly became the stickiest feature in the app — driving the highest repeat usage, highest AOV, and setting the stage for expansion across web and the browser extension.

Challenge
Delivering a high-impact feature within existing platform constraints — without a full redesign. Balancing speed to market with long-term scalability, while navigating evolving requirements, technical limitations, and the need for tight cross-functional alignment across product, engineering, and senior leadership.
Summary
The industry had normalized delayed rewards — we decided not to. I led the end-to-end design of RetailMeNot's Instant Cash Back on Gift Cards, rethinking how gift cards could function as an immediate payout mechanism without disrupting existing app flows. It launched as a focused MLP and quickly became the app's most powerful retention driver — highest repeat usage, highest AOV, and a feature users kept coming back for.
